Key features

Fiber optic network operators must address microbending, an ongoing challenge which occurs when random bends occur in the fiber axis resulting in small deformations that can cause attenuation and ultimately signal transmission loss. This occurs when fiber is forced onto cabling materials, fiber-to-fiber contacting points, or fiber being pressed on any rough surface. DSM’s DeSolite® Supercoatings is engineered to significantly improve microbending sensitivity at the fastest processing speeds, ensuring the best economy of high speed production and superior attenuation performance.

In standard basket-weave testing, DeSolite® Supercoatings display 90% less sensitivity to microbend attenuation as compared to alternative coating systems.

This is a performance advantage critical for new FTTx designs, especially those that operate at longer wavelengths such as 1625nm. Improved performance is also demonstrated in temperature extremes, ensuring a robust solution with minimal signal attenuation especially in low temperature environments.

Fiber field performance is key to the reliability of a network. It is crucial that signal transmission remains strong across the entire network ensuring people are always connected around the globe.

The DeSolite® product family is designed for robust processing (either wet-on-dry or wet-on-wet), low attenuation and excellent field performance.

Cablelite® inks
Cablelite® inks are optimized for loose tube and ribbon designs. They are fast curing, display robust processing at various line speeds with consistent cure and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) resistance for all 12 colors.

Cablelite® matrix
Cablelite® materials can be used for various ribbon designs including subunit ribbon designs. They display outstanding ribbon break-out with the Cablelite® ink series. In addition, they have very low water sensitivity and excellent low temperature performance.

Cablelite® multi-fiber
Cablelite® multi-fiber unit materials consist of a series of materials utilized for both blown fiber (EPFU) and compact fiber units (CFU). They are composed of a dual coating system which includes a soft inner material that is durable and moisture resistant. The Cablelite® outer matrix can be clear or pigmented with excellent bending radius and blowable for duct installation.

The Bufferlite® product line consists of materials that can be utilized for upjacketing the fiber to 500um and 900um by a fast one step processing on a slightly modified UV colouring line. The materials display excellent strip performance allowing for reduced termination times.
